New Testament Quotes

This is a constantly growing collection of some of my favorite scripture passages; many of these are on handwritten notes by my desk as reminders of the principles which should be guiding whatever I am doing.   Multiple different translations are used and I have made no effort to identify a specific translation with a specific quote.  The words of Christ are in red.

Matthew

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus:  for he shall save his people from their sins.  (1:21)

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.  (5:8)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.  (5:9)

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven.  (Latin:  Sic lucent lux vestra coram hominubus)   (5:16)

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you and persecute you.  (5:44)

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, Your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.  (6:14)

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not more important than they?  Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?  Why are you anxious about clothes?  Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.  They do not work or spin, but I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.  If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he then not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?  So do not worry and say, "What are we to eat?' or "What are we to drink?"  or "what are we to wear?."  All these things the pagans seek.  Your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be given you besides.  Do not worry about tomorrow,; tomorrow till take care of itself.  ( 6:25-34).

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall
be yours as well.  (6:37)

For with the judgement you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.  (7:3)

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and your will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  (7:7)

"Come to Me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." (11:28-30)

"Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as
a ransom for many."  (20:28)

Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment."  (22:37-8)

His master said to him "Well done, my good and faithful servant.  Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.  Come, share your master's joy." (25:23)

Mark

...Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the sake of the gospel will save it.  What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?  What could one give in exchange for his life?  Whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels.  (8:34-38)

But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions. (11:26)

Luke

I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through me. (14:6)

Peace I leave with you:  my Peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  (14:27)

Jesus said to his disciples:  "A the Father loves me, so I also love you.  Remain in my love.  If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love."  (15: 9-11)

Acts

We must go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God. (14:22)

Romans

But God demonstrated his love for us, in, that while we were still sinners, at the proper time, Christ died for us.  Therefore, having been justified now y his blood, all the more so shall we be saved from wrath through Him.....For though by the offense of one, many died, yet much more so, by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, has the grace and gift of God abounded to many.  (5:8-9,12)

So letting your sinful nature control your minds leads to death.  But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.  For the sinful nature is always hostile to God.  It never did obey God's laws, and it never will.  That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.  But you are not controlled by your sinful nature.  You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (and remember that those who don not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)  And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.  The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, live in you.  And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.  (8:6-11)

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.  (8:28)

In view of all this, what can we say?  If God is for us, who can be against us?  (8:31)

For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things yet come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth nor anything else in creations will be able to separate us from the Love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.  (8:38-39)

Because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.  For man believes with his heart and is so justified and he confesses with his lips and is so saved.  (10:9-10).

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  (10:9-10)

Then let us no longer judge one another, but rather resolve never to put  a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.(14:13)

Revelation

Then I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth.  The former heaven and the former earth had passed away and the sea was no more.  I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  I heard a loud voice from the thrones saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with the human race.  He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them as their God.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed way.  The One who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."  (2:1-5a)

So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. (3:16)

You created all things and by Your will they existed.  (4:11)
